There was a lot of noise in the night. Sea gulls and crows were yelling, strange people talking to themselves and the crows while passing by. But the weather is getting warmer and there was some blue sky visible in the morning.
The first 20km were pretty flat and followed the coastline over gentle hills and small villages.
Then we went about 150m up and cycled over a plateau in the center of the island. There are really beautiful mountains up here. I didn’t know the area here at all. So this was a nice surprise.
The only problem on the plateau was, that it was infested with this disgusting blood sucking flies (don’t know the English word for “Bremse”). So you didn’t want to stay too long.
Then we went downhill again to the fjord. By now the sky was almost completely blue and the sun was warm. Finally, after three days without seeing the sun at all.
Then Tromsø came in the view after some more kilometers. I never saw the island from this side.
The last kilometers went over å bridge and the hill in the middle of the island. Then down again to the center.
Tromsø is a nice place, especially in this weather. A lot of tourists here of course. Pretty amazing when you think about how far it is in the north.
We bought almost a kilo of reker (shrimps) for lunch and ate them in the sun on white bread with mayonnaise (of course). So that was a proper lunch break.
I have been here pretty often, so it felt funny to have cycled all the way up here instead of taking the plane.
