The view from the window looked promising.
I was pretty hungry from the day before so it was great to have a breakfast buffet in the morning.
When I left Karlsruhe the morning mist was slowly melting. It was a beautiful morning! Then the road started to incline and I was cycling through little villages and valleys of the north end of the Black Forest.
The next 50km went uphill to a total hight of 950m. It was a gentle incline and great to cycle through a beautiful scenery.
On top, I had to follow the main road for a while, which was the worst part of the day. Terrible traffic! But then I reached Freudenstadt and had a short lunch break.
Afterwards I avoided the main road by going through the forest until I reached the road again for the descent.
It was great fun to cycle downhill for almost an hour through more nice villages.
Then I reached a valley, which was full of people hiking and biking. No wonder, the bike roads were great and the weather felt like summer.
Then I reached the second climb of the day. This one was just 350m high but really steep. With 140km in the legs, this one was a challenge.
But Freiburg was not far any more. Just a couple of villages more to cross and I reached the center at 17:30. Then I met my friends and we had a nice evening with dinner, wine and talk. It is always nice to be in Freiburg and having really good friends here makes it even better.
I cycled 180km in total but there were also 1500m in climbing in addition today. It was a pretty tough day but it was amazing at the same time. The Black Forest is beautiful and has great roads for cycling. Also, the weather was perfect (I got a sunburn actually). It will not be the last time that I have been biking here!
